Esther & Fred
Esther & Fred’s Marquee Celebration in the Heart of North Cornwall
A love story framed by wild coastline, summer light, and the laughter of friends and family.
Nestled just beyond the historic harbour village of Boscastle, Esther and Fred’s wedding was the kind of day that makes you slow down and savour each moment. The setting—a gently sloping field with sweeping views over the Cornish countryside—was transformed into a romantic reception space beneath the soft drape of a traditional marquee.
The Morning
The day began in a flurry of excitement and quiet anticipation. While Esther prepared with her bridal party, her bouquet—a wild, garden-inspired arrangement in blush, cream, and touches of soft green—waited by the window, catching the early light. Fred, meanwhile, shared laughter and a Cornish ale or two with his groomsmen before heading to the nearby church, its centuries-old stone warmed by the summer sun.
The Ceremony
Their vows took place in a charming village church, its simple beauty adorned with seasonal flowers and the scent of wild honeysuckle drifting in through the open door. The sound of seagulls in the distance was a gentle reminder that the coast was only a stone’s throw away.
The Marquee Reception
Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the marquee on the outskirts of Boscastle. Inside, long wooden tables were dressed with linen runners, jam-jar posies, and flickering candles that would glow long into the evening. The sides of the marquee were rolled up to let in the breeze, so the laughter and live acoustic music spilled out into the summer air.
Between heartfelt speeches, children played on the grass, and guests wandered to the edge of the field to take in the panoramic views. The food—locally sourced and lovingly prepared—celebrated Cornish flavours, from fresh seafood starters to decadent clotted cream desserts.
Golden Hour & Dancing
As the sun dipped, the couple stole away for portraits in the golden light, with the rolling hills and distant ocean as their backdrop. When they returned, the marquee had been transformed into a lively dance floor. Fairy lights twinkled overhead, the band struck up a tune, and Esther and Fred shared their first dance as newlyweds.
A Perfect Ending
Later, under a sky scattered with stars, guests gathered around a firepit to toast marshmallows and share stories. It was a day filled with joy, beauty, and the kind of easy warmth that comes from being surrounded by the people who matter most.
